U of U Department of Theatre Season Brochure
Photography by Todd Collins

Each academic year the University of Utah Department of Theatre produces six mainstage productions (two musicals) and showcases them in an eye-catching brochure. We produce beautiful and unique season artwork, in house, with the work of just two staff members—one graphic designer and one marketing/communications specialist. The season brochure introduces each production and promotes attendance through its striking design. Bold colors, beautiful photography, and hand drawn illustration make this year’s season artwork a stunning success. This season’s branding is cohesive, yet provides a unique and distinct identity for each production. The goals of this project are to gain attendance and interest in our Theatre productions. Our visual marketing is paramount to the success of our productions. This year’s season branding has been widely successful and well received. Our objective is to share our brochure with an audience across campus, throughout the state of Utah, and beyond.

U of U Department of Theatre Season Posters

While the season brochure introduces Theatre productions, the posters serve to further the promotion and advertising for each show. The designers print the posters and post them all over campus to build more attendance. The visual brand for the year showcased in the brochure and posters carries over into all of the social media posts, printed materials, and other advertisements. The department had the unique opportunity this year to use photographs of the actual cast members in the design of the season artwork. The posters become a tangible representation, archive, and keepsake of the department’s productions. The Theatre department not only has noteworthy productions, but noteworthy design to compliment and promote those productions.
